A group of year 8 boys representing Durham Johnston school last week competed in the National Cross country finals in Newquay, Cornwall.

An epic 450-mile journey took them nearly 9 hours but it was worth the trip with them coming out as the second-best team in the country which is a huge achievement.

Certainly a reasonable excuse for not being available to play football last weekend.
