We are pleased to announce three significant developments as the club continues to invest in its long-term future: the launch of a new team, the appointment of a new coach, and the arrival of a new team sponsor.

New Team: Durham United Youth FC
The club will field a new side, Durham United Youth FC, competing in the Wearside League Division 3 (Open Age, Senior Football) from the [2026/27] season. The team has been established to create a clear and structured pathway for the club's talented 16-18 year old players, bridging the gap between youth football and the demands of senior competition. Players who progress through the side will have the opportunity to advance into Durham United's Northern League Division 2 first team, strengthening the club's commitment to developing home-grown talent.

The team's first home fixture will be against Cleadon & Whitburn JFC, at the Sir Bobby Robson Centre, Ushaw Moor, Durham, today 1st August KO 2pm.
Supporters are warmly invited to attend.

New Coach: Nathan Woodhead
Durham United FC is delighted to welcome 22-year-old Nathan Woodhead as the new coach of Durham United Youth FC. Nathan previously played for York City and Bradford City, and currently works for a sports coaching and football academy. This appointment marks his first coaching role in senior football, aligning closely with Durham United's approach of giving talented young adults the opportunity to develop their skills and careers. Nathan will be assisted by Gary Wilcock, the club's U16 coach. Commenting on the appointment, Matt Stevenson said: "this has been talked about for over a year now and it is great that we have been able to bring in Nathan and have the super support of Gary to make this all happen for the boys. A close link to the first team has already been established, with minutes on the pitch and the training ground, so we are super excited for the pathway. Still lots to do and work out, but we are in a good place to make progress with this set of boys. We welcome also new players that has joined the excitement of the new opportunity at Durham United. Good luck to all players and coaches."

New Sponsor: Nine Oak Financial Management
The club is also pleased to confirm Nine Oak Financial Management as its new team sponsor. The partnership is led by Senior Partner Darren Smith, whose firm shares the club's commitment to investing in the local community and supporting the next generation of footballers in the region.
